If this sounds like a love letter to Lane 8’s This Never Happened label, it’s because it is. And in just two short weeks, the label is taking over We Belong Here Miami’s beachside festival.
On Sunday, February 25, This Never Happened is taking over a brand new stage at We Belong Here that will feature incredible views of the ocean. The This Never Happened set times start at 4 PM on Virginia Key Beach and go until 2 AM, featuring seven notable artists from the label. If you ever wanted to spend the day happy crying be sure to join on the This Never Happened stage at We Belong Here, and take a look at our breakdown of the artists below!
Otherwish is fairly new to the scene but is coming out of the gate at full speed as part of the This Never Happened spring tour lineup and with his new album All This Time. You might also recognize Otherwish’s track “All This Time” as the opening track from Lane 8’s Fall 2023 Mixtape. This will be my first time seeing him and I could not be more excited. You definitely want to arrive early for what should be an incredible set.
Ocula is known for his major remixes that define the melodic house genre. After seeing him twice as part of Le Youth’s About Us album tour last year, it is going to be great to see a festival set from him. He definitely knows how to get the party going and bring up the energy. Massane plays live guitar to accompany his chill house vibes, which will be the perfect sunset set to bring festival goers into the night.
Le Youth gained a lot of popularity last year with his debut album About Us, containing the notable his song “I Will Leave a Light On” in collaboration with Lane 8. He is often referred to as the “people’s DJ” by his fans, and is known for his incredible fan interaction. Typically during his sets he will not only go in front of the decks but also jump right into the crowd. His energy is truly unmatched. Check out his full set at the Concourse Project in Austin, TX to get in the mood for the festival.
Jerro just announced his new album coming out some time this year. He kicked off the announcement by releasing “Forever”, a long anticipated ID from his live sets, and the first song off of the new album Chromatic. I am really hoping to see a lot of new IDs in his We Belong Here set. I remember the first time I saw Jerro was at Electric Forest, before I really knew a lot of his music. It was the first set I saw of the weekend, which was off to a little bit of a rough start. Two songs in you could hear me let out a sigh of relief as the weekend anxiety left my body. Four songs in and I had the biggest grin on my face. Shortly after there are quite a few embarrassing videos of me twirling in the crowd. There is something about Jerro sets that makes everything in the world feel right.
Embrz is a producer/singer/songwriter hailing from Dublin, and someone I currently have on repeat. His song “IOnDn” from his Don’t Look Back EP is absolutely beautiful and has been featured on group therapy radio with Above and Beyond. Luzi Tudor is closing out the festival for the weekend. She has a unique background as a successful entrepreneur, in which she built her own technology company on top of learning how to produce and coming up in the music scene. Her sound is unique to the This Never Happened label, and she is definitely going to bring an epic end to the day with her melodic techno tracks.
