We talked to Cristoph on the opening night of his Open To Close club tour, which features 15 shows across the US and Canada with over 70 hours of music.

Cristoph is an artist that is consistently rising through the ranks of the progressive house scene. Previously supported by headliners like Hot Since 82 and Eric Prydz, Cristoph has only improved as an artist in recent years. He’s performed at events like ARC Music Festival, Creamfields, Seismic Dance Event, Tomorrowland, and Beyond Wonderland and recently started his own label, Consequence of Society. We talked to Cristoph before his show at Prysm Nightclub in Chicago on October 13th, just minutes before his 5+ hour set at one of the city’s most well-known venues.

Many of the sets Cristoph performed in his hometown of Newcastle were open-to-close sets at some of England’s many clubs.
Born into a family where both his dad and brother were DJs, Cristoph was introduced to house music from an early age. His brother played out artists like MK and Masters at Work and told him about the Chicago House Music scene. Cristoph recently relocated to Chicago, and he says, “To be in Chicago is surreal because Newcastle is just a small city in the north of England. Never did I ever think my career would allow me to relocate here.”
He was mentored early on by Hot Since 82 and has since performed at many of the world’s biggest festivals. And after performing a few extended sets earlier in 2023, the idea for an open to close tour was born. “Since no one is really doing a full open to close tour, we decided to put one together. There are other DJs that do open to close, but I don’t think many are doing 15 gigs in 6 weeks across North America…it’s like 78 hours total of music.”

With thousands of tracks on his USB for an O2C set, Cristoph is a talented music selector that just released two EPs on his label.
He started Consquence Of Society as a way to release some of the best music he made during COVID lockdowns. There are plans to release music from other artists later, and Cristoph often plays out demos he receives via email. Some artists he’s been feeling lately include Layer J, Michael Anthony, Adz, Harry Diamond, and Artche. “I want to try to create a crew for Consequence of Society. I’ve watched other labels do that, and I think it’s a great thing to do,” Cristoph explains. “But I’m still working more on building my own brand and my label more before I open it up to others.“
Recent releases on Consequence of Society include Facet Vol 2.1 and Facet Vol 2.2, a follow-up to Cristoph’s album, FaCet, Vol. 1. Both EPs will be played out heavily during the O2C tour, as well as plenty of other unreleased and rarely-heard music.
Cristoph is looking forward to traveling across the continent on the tour, equally excited for major markets and smaller cities.
Halloween and the first weekend of November is a particularly busy time for Cristoph and his crew. After selling out a Saturday night at Coda Nightclub in Toronto, Cristoph added a second night on Thursday with a stop in Boston in between. He’ll also be performing on Tuesday night in San Francisco, meaning a grand total of over twenty hours of music in just a few days. Later stops include Los Angeles, Tempe, Minneapolis, Denver, and Detroit. “I’m definitely looking forward to some of the smaller shows and venues where the capacity is 200-300 people,” he tells me. “You can really go deep and take the crowd on a different journey.”

Tickets to Cristoph’s O2C Tour are available now.
The tour lasts for just a few more weeks before ending at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles. If the upcoming shows are anything like his set at Prysm in Chicago, we’d recommend arriving early and staying late for the full Cristoph experience.
