Anyma, successful as both a solo artist and as one half of Tale of Us, has once again struck gold with his debut album Genesys.
What are the current trends in the EDM scene? While tech house still reigns supreme in modern electronic music, one of the most important collectives doing something new and exciting are Tale of Us and the Afterlife label.
Matteo Milleri, also known as Anyma, has been a driving force behind the success of Afterlife and the Tale of Us project. Following several single releases and notable collaborations, Anyma’s debut album Genesys is out now. Exploring and capturing themes like artificial intelligence, humanity, and coexistence, Genesys is a thought-provoking concept album that feels increasingly rare in the current music climate.
As the #1 selling artist on Beatport in 2023, Anyma has a deep progressive house and melodic techno sound which focuses on creativity and emotion.
The Afterlife brand has become famous across social media for their high quality, futuristic visuals. These themes translate well into Anyma’s music, which utilizes mysterious lyrics and massive sounds to create a unique house and techno style.
One main quality that sets apart Anyma’s music is his arpeggiated, reverb-heavy synths that simply feel huge. There’s something about Afterlife music that you don’t just hear…you feel. And the music on Genesys definitely has that quality.
Genesys sees Anyma collaborate with several artists, including Grimes, Cassian, Camelphat, and Rebuke.
Afterlife hosted a stage at Tomorrowland 2023, which included a guest appearance by Grimes for “Welcome To The Opera”. Several of the tracks on the album are some of the most iconic songs of the year, including “Consciousness”, “Eternity”, and “The Sign”. The newly released tracks are great as well, especially “Chordial”, “The Pact”, and “Unearth”. Some of our other favorites include “Explore Your Future” and “The Answer”.
Anyma and Tale of Us will continue their impressive 2023 with three sold out shows at Brookyln Mirage, as well as two Afterlife events at LA State Historic Park in Los Angeles.
As some of the most in-demand artists in the game, Tale of Us and Anyma are set to finish 2023 on a high note. Tickets to their newly announced second show in Los Angeles are still available, with more events and headlining sets to hopefully be announced in the near future.
