5 Can’t-Miss Electronic Music Acts at Lollapalooza 2023

Lollapalooza is back for another epic year at Grant Park in downtown Chicago, and the lineup has another strong selection of diverse EDM headliners.

This weekend once again brings Lollapalooza to downtown Chicago, and the festival has one of their most in-demand lineups in recent memory. Between the EDM-focused Perry’s Stage and a wide selection of artists on the rest of the schedule, Lollapalooza 2023 will be a weekend of great music and even better memories.

The festivities start on Thursday at noon and continue until Sunday night at 10 PM. There are also afterparties across the city throughout the weekend, meaning the party doesn’t have to end when the Lollapalooza gates close. The festival itself has plenty of talent spread across its four days, and the artists listed below are just the beginning of a deep and diverse lineup.

A few tickets to Lollapalooza are still available. Check out some of the artists we’re most excited for below, and we’ll see you soon in the back middle at Perry’s.

Diplo, Thursday 8:30-9:45, Perry’s

Originally rising to fame as the leader of the innovative dancehall group Major Lazer over a decade ago, Diplo has never lost his reputation as a headliner in the live music scene. He’s had collaborative projects with artists like Skrillex and Mark Ronson, but he now focuses most on his house music collective, Higher Ground. A multi-genre producer who has released country albums and headlines Stagecoach festival every year, Diplo is a legendary DJ who is an expert at playing to the crowd. Expect high energy and creative track selection in his headlining Perry’s slot.

DJ Diesel, Friday 6:00-7:00, Perry’s

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA, but he’s now making headlines as DJ Diesel. What started as a fun addition to a few events a year has turned into regular appearances by Shaq at the world’s biggest festivals. Coming off two appearances at Tomorrowland and a mini European tour, Shaq returns to the States for Lollapalooza weekend. He will also play Outside Lands and Bass Canyon later this month, followed by Shaq’s Bass All-Stars Festival in Texas. DJ Diesel’s track selection is full of dubstep bangers, and as a lifelong fan of music and DJing, his sets please both hardcore and newer EDM fans.

Knock2, Saturday 2:30-3:15, Perry’s

Recently completing his debut Room202 tour and announcing phase two of the tour for later this fall, Knock2 is undoubtedly one of the rising stars of bass music. However, his music is truly genre-less; it’s most closely defined as trap, but he pulls influences from electro house, techno, big room, dubstep, drum n bass, pop, and more. We attended his show at Chicago’s Cermak Hall in March, and it was definitely in our top ten shows of all-time (dating back to our first Lollapalooza in 2010). Knock2 will bring some of the best vibes of the weekend to Perry’s on Saturday afternoon. His debut EP, ROOM202, was released in January following his breakout hit, “dashstar*”.

ODESZA, Saturday 8:45-Close, T-Mobile Stage

Following the release of their Grammy-nominated The Last Goodbye album and a massive headlining tour across America, ODESZA returns to Lollapalooza after performances in 2015 and 2018. They’re coming back as T-Mobile Stage headliners in 2023, the only stage that regularly goes past the 10 PM closing time. ODESZA has made a name for themselves in the electronic music and festival business as true innovators. Their live performances are known for impressive visuals and live instrumentation, creating an immersive environment that no one can replicate. We’re anticipating ODESZA’s mainstage closing set to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

Louis The Child, Sunday 8:45-9:45, Perry’s

Based out of Chicago, Louis The Child are no strangers to Lollapalooza. After performing a mid-day slot on the Bud Light Stage in 2019, LTC will be closing the whole festival in 2023 at the Perry’s Stage. With multiple guest appearances and live elements planned for their performance, Louis The Child will close out a weekend of raging at Perry’s on a high note. They’re later scheduled for two shows at Red Rocks this year, as well as an impressive curated event at Brooklyn Mirage on August 19th. We’re looking forward to ending Lollapalooza 2023 with Louis The Child and a touch of Red Hot Chili Peppers just a short walk across Columbus Street.
