7 Non-EDM Artists We’re Seeing at Lollapalooza 2022

While we usually spend most of our time at Perry’s and other electronic music shows, the best part about Lollapalooza is the multi-genre aspect of the festival.

Lollapalooza in Chicago is one of the most well-known festivals in the world. It’s famous for the EDM-heavy Perry’s stage, but even the most passionate Perry’s heads should take some time to explore the rest of the festival.

The Solana x Perry’s lineup features headliners like Zhu, Black Coffee, Rezz, Liquid Stranger, Kaskade, and Duke Dumont. The 6 other stages (not including Kidzapalooza) feature a mix of hip-hop, pop music, rock, and everything else.

While the majority of our time will be spent at Perry’s and seeing other electronic acts, a Lollapalooza experience isn’t complete without other genres, too. Take a look below for some of our can’t-miss artists at Lollapalooza 2022.

Metallica – Thursday, 8:15 PM – T-Mobile Stage

The heavy metal kings will be making a rare festival appearance at Lollapalooza on Thursday. The T-Mobile Stage often goes past 10 PM, meaning there’ll likely be over 2 hours of music from Metallica. They’re the most legendary name on the entire Lolla lineup and currently only have two other tour stops planned for 2022.

Caroline Polachek – Thursday 9-10 PM – Discord Stage

When you need a break from Metallica, make a stop at the Discord Stage for Caroline Polachek (or at the Bud Light Stage for Lil Baby). Polachek is the former lead singer of indie pop group Chairlift and released her debut album Pang in 2019. Her recent collaborators include Flume, Charli XCX, AG Cook, and Toro Y Moi.

Tinashe – Friday 3:45-4:45 PM – Coinbase Stage

Underrated pop singer Tinashe released her album 333 last year, and its widely recognized as her best work yet. First known for her hit “2 On” with Schoolboy Q, Tinashe has collaborated with countless electronic producers like MAKJ, Wax Moxif, Cheat Codes, Shift K3Y, Zhu, Kaytranada, Calvin Harris, Lost Kings, and Channel Tres.

Wallows – Saturday 5-6 PM – T-Mobile Stage

The Los Angeles-based rock band Wallows will provide some essential indie and alternative vibes on Saturday evening. Combining influences like post-punk, folk, and dancepop, Wallows has a unique brand of live music that fits perfectly at Lolla. They’re currently on a lengthy tour throughout North America, Australia, and Europe.

Chelsea Cutler – Saturday 8-9 PM – Coinbase Stage

Known for her relatable and vulnerable lyrics, Chelsea Cutler has created her own brand of lo-fi pop electronica. She’s returning to Lollapalooza after a 2019 performance and just released “Walk Me Home” with ILLENIUM and Said The Sky earlier this year. Chelsea’s show will combine emotional vibes with high-energy moments for a unique set.

J.Cole – Saturday 9 PM – T-Mobile Stage

On the opposite side of the field, J.Cole will take the stage for the final set on the T-Mobile stage. The talented MC will put on a true hip-hop performance and just headlined Bonnaroo. He’s one of the best rappers on the 2022 lineup and will close out Saturday night properly.

Green Day – Sunday 8:15 PM – T-Mobile Stage

Following their stadium-sized Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer in 2021, Green Day will return to Chicago as the final act at Lollapalooza 2022. The punk rock/pop punk legends have been in the spotlight since the early 90s, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will cherish the opportunity to play in front of the massive Grant Park crowd.

Honorable mentions: Lil Baby, 100 Gecs, Don Toliver, Machine Gun Kelly, Glass Animals, Dua Lipa, Lil Durk, Charli XCX, The Kid Laroi, Denzel Curry
