After taking a year off last February, Gem & Jam delivered a worthwhile festival experience in the desert.
Gem & Jam is a festival in Tucson, Arizona that first started in 2005. After taking a surprise year off, the 2026 edition of Gem & Jam was a success by all measures. The festival has already announced its return to Pima County Fairgrounds in 2027.

A camping festival on the outskirts of Tucson, Gem & Jam is a worthwhile escape to warm weather and good vibes each February. It’s held during the Tucson Gem Shows, a longstanding tradition of crystal and mineral exhibitions.
Gem & Jam has the intimate feeling of an independent festival with a strong grassroots following. The Pima County Fairgrounds space allows for convenient travel options, with car camping, RV parking, and daily spots located directly outside the front gates.

The fairgrounds has a permanent indoor structure which is utilized for the Onyx Stage, which hosts DJs playing house music, dubstep, drum n bass, and more. The Onyx Stage also stays open until 4 AM each night, hosting afterparties featuring some of the best artists on the lineup. Artists performing here in 2026 included J. Worra, The Widdler, and Tripp St.

Something that sets Gem & Jam apart from other festivals is the vendor selection. Located in the heart of the venue, the merchandise includes festival goods like apparel and gems & crystals. The vibe of the festival focuses heavily on artwork and creativity, and there is also an art gallery located in the back of the crowd at main stage with several pieces available for purchase.
The Emerald Stage (main stage) is a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the mountains each night. Hosting festival headliners like Clozee, Tycho, and G Jones b2b EPROM, the Emerald Stage features fire dancers and an open field full of flow artists and festivalgoers. It’s the biggest stage of the fest, and other sets here included Moontricks, Troyboi, Desert Dwellers, and Sunsquabi.

Gem & Jam has a total of four stages within the fairgrounds. The Quartz Stage is more jam band oriented, while the Opal Stage hosts locals and upcoming talent. The festival also has other programming throughout the weekend including yoga and family-oriented activities.

Another thing that sets Gem & Jam apart is the location and proximity to downtown Tucson. With the gem shows a short drive away and hikes and a National Park in its backyard, Gem & Jam is an easy festival to return to each year. It’s an independently run camping festival that should be on your radar when next February rolls around.
