Autograf’s Sophomore Album ‘Affirmations’ Asserts Their Transformative Sound

Affirmations by Autograf is beyond any doubt a fantastic album. We just need to get that out of the way.

From the moment you get started with the first track “Runaway”, there’s a bit of foreshadowing that you’re in for a massive treat. Suddenly, you’re introduced to a masterful blend of soundscapes, feelings, and pure magic. Maybe ‘alchemy’ is a more fitting description here.

As the album progresses, you get an amazing showcase of the range Mikul Wing and Louis Kha have as Autograf. They assembled a masterful cast of collaborators and delivered on every track here. Truly, there are no skips to be found.

Autograf goes from sultry and funky with “Vertigo”, to some very deep and massive sounds in “La Petite Mort” and “Voodoo”. From there, they provide some true summer anthems like “Love Runs Deep”, “Lie”, and “Inner Light”.

With such a well thought out presentation so far, Autograf starts to chill things out with “Over the Sea”, before bringing back the disco with “High on That New Love”, and “In Your Eyes”. It’s pretty obvious what sort of vibe they were going for with this album, and the story they tell is compelling from start to finish.

Autograf caps things off properly with “Revolves Around You”, making sure to give us the send off we deserve. Honestly, the sequencing of the album as well as the sounds they present to the listener are top notch. You’ll find yourself at the end of the album before you know it; a true testament to the way Autograf transports you to another place.

They exceed expectations on Affirmations, but if you’re familiar with their body of work, none of the quality you hear should be a surprise. With a release like this, you wonder if there was ever a point in time that they were actually considered underclassmen. The future looks very bright for the duo that is Autograf, and I’ll be following them with even more interest than before.

You can catch Autograf on the rest of their tour across the US this summer, including a newly announced stop in San Diego on October 7th at Bloom Nightclub. With the release of this album, I’ll go ahead and say that they are must-see entertainment.

“Like most people, we struggle with our own doubts and insecurities. We all live life with a bit of imposter syndrome: ‘I’m not a real musician, I’m not an artist’. Along the way, we’ve come to realize that we needed to change the story in our minds to become who we aspire to be, which led us to this album. ‘I am confident, I am creative, I am an amazing artist.’ Daily affirmations changed our entire outlook on our craft and ourselves, and we found that once we believed in the power of affirmations, we started to become those things.”

“We never thought we’d be traveling the world, playing the festivals we’ve played, and have millions of listeners. But here we are, and we’re so grateful. So set your affirmations and dare to dream big.”
